Royal St Andrews Hotel

Located in Port Alfred, South Africa, the Royal St. Andrews Hotel has re-opened after an extensive 3 year renovation. Royal St. Andrews Hotel is the perfect destination for avid golfers as the hotel is situated within walking distance of the Royal Port Alfred Golf Club, one of the oldest and best known golf courses in South Africa. In addition the Gary Player designed Fish River Sun Country Club, and the new Belmont Valley Country Club are within a 45 minute drive. The original hotel was built in 1924-5 before the arrival of the Prince of Wales who stayed there.    The original building comprised 9 rooms.   In 2013, The Royal St Andrews Lodge who created the present magnificent hotel.   During the refurbishment of the original building, a pile of newspapers dating back to 1914 was found under the floorboards.  These have been preserved in frames at the hotel.
